Improving Public Safety through Community Partnerships
Our city’s safety begins with a strong bond between residents and the men and women who protect us. That’s why my plan puts neighborhood officers in closer contact with local organizations, churches, and schools.
By attending community events and building genuine relationships, officers gain a deeper understanding of neighborhood concerns, leading to more responsive, compassionate policing. I also advocate youth engagement programs, ensuring kids see our police force as role models and mentors, not adversaries.
Smart, Focused Deterrence
I believe in data-driven solutions to curb the rise in petty crime. That means increasing patrols in identified “hotspots,” improving lighting and surveillance, and coordinating with code enforcement to address neglected properties that often serve as crime magnets.
This targeted approach will help officers be more visible in areas where crime is most common, deterring bad actors and reassuring the public.
Transparency, Accountability, and Innovation
For policing to be both effective and fair, we need clear standards of conduct, consistent use of body-worn cameras, and robust civilian oversight.
My proposal includes investing in technology like real-time crime centers and streamlined reporting infrastructure so officers have up-to-the-minute data and residents can quickly relay concerns. Equally important is training to ensure our police are equipped with the latest de-escalation techniques and mental health interventions.
Sustaining Progress with Community Engagement
I recognize that real change requires more than just policing strategies it demands partnerships with nonprofits, faith-based groups, and social services to address underlying issues like addiction, homelessness, and unemployment. By creating resource referral systems and encouraging neighborhood-led initiatives such as block parties and watch programs, we can empower our citizens to take a proactive role in keeping our communities safe.
Through collaboration, transparency, and innovation, we can make Fort Worth a shining example of effective policing protecting our families, supporting our officers, and building trust every step of the way.
