Mary Kelleher Announces Candidacy for Fort Worth City Council, District 5
Fort Worth, TX – Mary Kelleher, a longtime resident, advocate, and public servant, proudly announces her candidacy for the Fort Worth City Council, District 5. With a proven track record of fighting for transparency, responsible development, and community-focused solutions, Kelleher is committed to ensuring every resident of District 5 has a voice in city government.
“For years, I have worked to protect our community, challenge corruption, and advocate for policies that put people first,” said Kelleher. “Now, I am ready to take that fight to City Hall and be a strong advocate for District 5.”
Kelleher has lived in Fort Worth since 1996 and, alongside her husband, operates the largest working cattle ranch in East Fort Worth. Her journey into local politics began in 2010 when severe flooding devastated her property due to poorly planned development. This experience led her to successfully run for a seat on the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) Board, where she has served two terms. During her tenure, she championed transparency by ensuring TRWD meetings were live-streamed for public access and fought for responsible water management policies.
Beyond her work in water management, Kelleher has dedicated nearly three decades to public service as a certified juvenile probation officer and later as Assistant Court Coordinator for the Tarrant County Juvenile Court. She has worked closely with law enforcement, local schools, and social services to help at-risk youth and families across the county.
Once elected, Kelleher’s top priorities will include:
● Sensible Development & Zoning – Hold developers accountable while protecting neighborhoods and Fort Worth’s natural resources.
● Public Safety – Strengthen partnerships with first responders and ensure the community’s safety needs are met.
● Government Transparency & Accountability – Ensuring open communication with residents and responsible city spending.
● Improving Infrastructure & Quality of Life – Addressing potholes, public parks, and essential services that residents rely on daily.
“I am not a politician—I am a concerned citizen who believes in service over recognition,” said Kelleher. “I will work for every resident of District 5, ensuring their concerns are heard and acted upon.”
